Terms & Conditions
This guide has been designed to ensure that you receive the very most from your membership with us. This guide contains useful information and answers some of the most frequently asked questions. We are open weekdays from 6am—10.30pm (Gym closes at 10pm) and from 8am to 8.30pm at weekends. These times may vary over Christmas, New Year and Bank holidays – please check at reception the opening hours for these days.
How do I check in?
On joining Club Kingswood you will receive a membership card which you need to hand to the receptionist to register your chosen activity. On arrival at the club please have your membership card ready. If you do not have your card, or loose your card please tell the receptionist on duty. All guests and visitors must also check in at reception with you.
We advise to wear comfortable sports clothing when exercising, plus ankle supporting trainers.
In the gym no jeans or flip flops are allowed, and trainers must be worn at all times.
Playing squash, tennis or racketball, shoes with non-marking soles are required.
In the Bar – Smart casual clothing at all times, no pre worn exercise clothing allowed or vests.
How do I make a class or racket court booking?
We recommend that you pre-book for racket courts and classes in advance to ensure your place. You can make a booking over the phone by calling 01268 522954, in person or online on our website www.clubkingswood.co.uk. Bookings can be made up to 7 days in advance. You are welcome to participate in ‘back to back classes’, however, you cannot book the second class in advance.
The Club has 7 squash/racketball courts, available from 6am to 10.00pm. Each squash/racketball session is 40 minutes in duration and may be reserved up to 7 days in advance. Rackets may be hired from reception for £1.00 and balls can be borrowed or purchased. During peak times (being 4.20pm—9.00pm) courts are only bookable with 2 players and no roll-on courts are allowed to be booked in the peak times.
Where can I leave my things when I come to the Club?
We provide lockable lockers in both changing rooms. They take £1 coin/trolley token to lock which you get back when the locker is opened.
How can I find out what is happening socially?
All notice boards throughout the Club are updated on a regular basis. Social events are also published on our web site www.clubkingswood.co.uk and our facebook page www.facebook.com/clubkingswood
Joining clubkingswood to use the gym, will give you access to all gym facilities including Spinning. We are confident that with the different packages we offer, we will be able to help you achieve your goals. Free Instructor sessions when joining are designed to enable you to feel confident with the equipment you will be using, and provide you with an individual program tailored towards your needs and goals, giving you real and lasting results.
Instructors are on duty throughout the day should you have any questions or require any advice. Personal Training sessions and nutritional consultants are also available upon request, at an additional cost.
The sauna and steam rooms are located in the male and female changing rooms. Both are created to provide the ideal opportunity to relax in a hot and humid atmosphere. Operating at approximately 45 degrees centigrade with 100% humidity, the steam room cleanses the skin, aids circulation and relieves stress. The saunas offer a dry heat, operating at approximately 90 degrees with only 15% humidity, again cleansing the skin, aiding circulation and easing tired muscles. These facilities are available for members 16 years of age and over. For the sake of hygiene a towel or swimwear must be worn whilst using the Steam & Sauna areas.
The swimming pool can be accessed through both the men’s and ladies’ changing rooms, and is 33ft long (10 meters). The water temperature and water quality in the swimming pool is constantly monitored. Please check our pool timetable before you swim for any classes, or adult only times that may be on.
The sunbeds are located in the male and female changing rooms. They are controlled by tokens (7 minute per token) purchased from reception. The price for sunbeds are £5 for 5 minutes, . You can alternatively purchase a sunbed course, which allows 20 x 5 minute sessions for £80.00 (saving you £20).

Children and Juniors
Members and guests are reminded that whilst children and juniors are very welcome at the Club, there are certain time and facility restrictions. Children are classified as under 16 years, and may only use leisure facilities applicable to their age group. They may only use the Club facilities between 9am and 6.30pm Mon—Fri. They must be accompanied by an adult at all times, unless participating in a supervised activity. However, children may play squash/racketball after 6.30pm at the weekends, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Fitness areas—children under 16 are not permitted to enter the gym or studios unless supervised by a member of staff, or have a Family Gold Membership, available for 13 to 15 year olds.
These rules have been established to ensure that all families using these facilities can do so in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Family Gold Membership
For members children aged 13 to 15, allowing use of the gym with an adult, Monday to Friday 6am – 6.00pm and after 12pm weekends.
Bar & Restaurant
Designed to make socialising at the Club an informal and relaxing experience, the bar offers a comprehensive range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, a varied wine list and an extensive menu from snacks to three course meals.
In the interests of all members and their guests we would ask you to observe the following standards in the bar, garden and whilst on the terrace. All members are asked to register their guests at reception upon arrival. Sports clothing is permitted in the bar areas, however please refrain from wearing the clothes worn during your workout. Sports bags must be stored in the bag rack located opposite the entrance, or in a locker. Smoking is not permitted in any area of the club. We would ask all members with children to be mindful of other members and their enjoyment. Families with children are welcome in the Bar & Restaurant as long as they are well behaved and follow the rules below.
1. After 7.30pm children under 16 are not permitted in the bar.
2. All children must be accompanied by an adult and remain seated.
3. Please do not allow your children to run around.
4. The stairs to the garden must be kept clear at all times.
The following information has been produced to ensure that all members are assured of a comfortable and enjoyable experience on each and every visits.
Although detailed in their nature, it is anticipated that for the majority of the Members there will be little or no need to refer to them. They do, however, allow the Management of the Club to provide a service that we believe is second to none.
Name and Address
The name of the Club shall be clubkingswood, hereafter referred to as “The Club” and the address shall be Clubkingswood, Clay Hill Lane, Sparrows Herne, Basildon, Essex, SS16 5JP.

The Club is a proprietary Club, the proprietor and sole manager of which is the Kingswood Sports Centre Limited. The proprietor will provide all the Clubs facilities and everything necessary in accordance with these rules and regulations including the payment of all staff and other matters in connection therewith.
Subscription and Facility Fees
The Club shall have the right to change the scale of fees at any time by notification of any change on the Club notice board.
Suspension of Membership
In certain circumstances you may be allowed to suspend your membership. The suspension period is a minimum of two months. There will be a monthly charge of £5.00 per person payable on your existing direct debit.
All suspensions must be submitted in writing via email to email@example.com
Membership of clubkingswood is a twelve-month commitment. Payments are made monthly or annually and members have a commitment upon joining to pay the non-refundable joining fee.
If monthly direct debits are ceased within the first year any discount given on the joining fee will be payable.
After the first year, membership can be cancelled giving one calendar months notice in writing to the Club via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
All members will receive a copy of the application form to confirm acceptance of them.
The joining fee is non-refundable, non transferable, one-off charge, made at the commencement of membership. If a member leaves then rejoins at a later date, a new joining fee will be payable at the rates prevailing at the time of re-joining.
Partner members are required to become individual members in the event of a main member terminating his/her membership. This involves paying the monthly subscription at the individual rate rather than the partner rate.
Use of the gym prior to attending a health check and instructor session is not permitted.
Please make a special note of the expiry date on any guest passes of vouchers held. Guest passes and vouchers are not valid after their expiry date.
Cessation of Membership
Membership will cease when:
Members write to the club giving one month’s notice after completion of 12 months contracted membership or within 12 months paying £25 (non contract) cancellation fee plus 30days notice.
By the Club in it’s absolute discretion and without giving any reason, cancelling the membership.
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to email@example.com , giving a minimum of 30 days notice.
Right of Members
The member by paying his/her correct subscription shall be entitled to all the benefits and privileges within the qualification of his/her membership and shall be bound by these rules and other club regulation being in force at the time.
Liability of Members
The liability of members shall be limited to the amount of subscription and any other fees, or in case where damage is caused to Club property he/she shall be responsible for that amount as the Club may so direct.
Any member knowingly allowing another to use their card shall have their membership cancelled, with any remaining payments due immediately.
Under no circumstances, shall intoxicating liquor be supplied to be consumed by any member under the age of 18 whilst on Club premises. Any member so doing or aiding or abetting shall be liable to having his/her membership cancelled.
The personal equipment of members is their own responsibility at all times.
Any equipment left in the Club will be placed in lost property for a period of seven days and then be disposed of at the sole discretion of the club.
Members may introduce guests to the club by completing a guest card at reception upon arrival. The guest fee is £9.50 per visit, and £5 for swimming. No member shall introduce a guest who has been refused membership at the Club. Members are responsible for the behaviour of their guests and shall not leave the Club before their guests. Guests may purchase drinks in the Club lounge.
Our car park is for members using the facilities at the time of parking only. Please ensure all valuables are out of sight.
All persons entering the Club premises do so at their own risk. The Proprietor accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage of property belonging to any member or his/her guest or for any personal injury.
The Clubs affairs shall be managed by a General Manager under the direction of the Chairman of Club Kingswood. The Manager may at his discretion appoint committees and playing Captains to assist in the various sporting and social affairs of the Club.
Alteration and Interpretation of Rules
These rules maybe altered, deleted or added to at any time at the sole discretion of the Club by publication on the Club notice board. The Club, whose decision shall be final, shall determine any dispute or difference that may arise in the regard to the interpretation of these rules.
Closing of the Club
The Proprietor has the right to close the Club either on a temporary or permanent basis without prior notice and in such event members will have no rights of claims against the club
